Science: Zoology: Belugas

The Beluga whale is an arctic species of cetacean (Cetus means "whale" in Greek). Cetaceans include whales, dolphins, and porpoises. Belugas are in the same family as narwhals. Belugas are also called "Sea Canaries," because of their high-pitched twittering.

Belugas range about 15 feet long. Newborns are almost 5 feet long. They eat mainly fish, octopus, squid, crabs, and shrimp. Polar bears are belugas' natural predator.
